2nd Annual Community Theater Festival 2013

Community Healthy Advocacy Network At Nation (CHANAN) organized 2nd Annual Community Theatre Festival to commemorate the Universal Human Rights Day with 200+ participants including domestic working women, Youth, Civil Society, government and media representatives participated in the festival and shared their views on women human rights at Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Hall, Lahore on 9th December, 2013

Mr. Alyas Rahmat Managing Director CHANAN said “with these activities CHANAN wants to do collective actions for the Human Rights issue especially for the Women Human Rights. He stressed on that collective actions of domestic working women, civil society, government and media can bring the positive change in the society and it will help for the development as well as women empowerment.

Other speakers including Ms. Farah Chughttai President CHANAN, Mr. I.A Rehman Director HRCP, Miss Bushra Khaliq Director WISE, Mr. Yousaf Benjamin NCJP and domestic working women expressed their views on the Human Rights of Women especially Domestic working women. They shared that civil society, Media, government departments and domestic working women can help each other to reduce all kinds of Human Rights Violation of women and domestic working women. They also showed solidarity with domestic working women regarding their human rights.

The event was based upon the community theater performances, and the formal theater festival started with the documentary on female domestic worker’s issues. Then the different local theater groups presented their theater performances the women human rights.

At the end of the festival awards and shields given to all guest speakers, theatre groups and community group coordinators in the reorganization of their services regarding human rights of women and domestic workers.
