International Women’s Day 2021
About the Festival
CHANAN conducted its Theater Festival 7TH March 2021 at Punjabi Institute of Languages Art & Culture PILAC. This year our Theater Festival’s theme was “SAFE Women SAFE Society”. Theater Festival specially designs to acknowledge the priceless efforts for those community mobilizers who worked hard for SAFE program replication in grass root communities in district Lahore. Community engagement projects have always a huge impact, SAFE is one of those projects which is focusing on engagement of community activities for women, girls and man too. Implementing partners are also depending a lot on their community mobilizers to implement such project activities in grass root communities, under SAFE program from 2019-2020 there were a number of activities and community engagement through those community mobilizers.
An acknowledgment on a different plate form is always very important for such great workers, so CHANAN has planned to acknowledge the contribution of community coordinators through “Awards”. In this ceremony CHANAN provided them a chance to learn in a different way, A theater festival was conducted and an opportunity created to build their capacity in a different way.
For the celebration of International women day, around 70-80 people from Lahore were invited, including 5-7 community mobilizers from each SAFE implementing partner along with media, government and selective CSO‘s representatives were also present. Festival started with the word of welcome by the MD CHANAN Mr. Alyas Rahmat, he also shares the objective of the day followed by the SAFE and Shirkat Gah Introduction by Farah Muqaddas Program Officer Shirkat Gah. Bushra Khaliq shared the detailed history of Women Day while Tanveer Jahan Director DCHD also discuss the impact of covid-19 on women’s lives.
